A dense summer fog moved across Poça Beach, transforming the familiar coastline into something almost cinematic. Reactions were completely different: some people left the beach, others continued their game without hesitation, while the lifeguard repeatedly called swimmers back from the water. Watching the scene unfold, I became more interested in the people than in the weather itself. The fog had changed the environment, but not everyone allowed it to change their mood. That contrast became the essence of the photograph — a reflection on resilience, perspective and the freedom to choose how we respond to what happens around us.

Scientific Perspective
Fog softens contrast and reduces visual complexity, creating a quieter field for the eye to explore. Against this muted atmosphere, the continued movement of the players becomes more pronounced, reinforcing a visual contrast between uncertainty and purposeful action.

Fog suggests transition and uncertainty, while the players’ steady movement brings determination and forward energy. Together, they create a balance between changing circumstances and inner direction.
