About the Image
Photographed while sailing with my family along Madeira Island, this image holds the feeling of being completely surrounded by scale — the vast Atlantic below and the monumental cliffs rising above us. From the boat, we felt incredibly small against that wall of rock, while the ocean revealed an extraordinary shade of blue that seemed unique to Madeira. What stayed with me was the contrast between strength and serenity: the solidity of the cliffs, the openness of the sea, and the quiet sense of perspective that comes from being immersed in something much larger than ourselves.

Blue is often associated with calm, openness and spatial depth, while expansive natural scenes can encourage broader visual attention and a sense of mental release. The contrast between the massive vertical rock face and the uninterrupted surface of the ocean creates a strong visual balance between structure and openness.
