Biography
Hi, I’m Alessandra Miranda, also known as Leka, a Brazilian photographer based in Portugal and the artist behind Mindful Fine Art Photography®.
I developed this approach as a visual reset ~ a moment of contemplation through photography, inspired by nature and informed by my ongoing exploration of how colour, light and composition can influence the way we see and feel.
I’ve always felt a deep connection with nature and the peace found within it. To me, photography is a way of holding a fleeting moment still ~ a fragment of nature’s beauty, of God’s art, that we can return to, contemplate and feel whenever we choose.
My curiosity about what an image can awaken in us also guides my studies and ongoing research. With a degree in Arts & Humanities from Florida Atlantic University, my studies include The Science of Well-Being at Yale University, Visual Perception and the Brain at Duke University, and further studies in photography and visual experience.
I continue to explore visual perception, neuroaesthetics, colour psychology and environmental psychology, seeking to understand how images can shape our attention, emotions, memories and associations.
My photography is minimalist, leaving space for the eye ~ and the mind ~ to breathe. Each photograph is an invitation to pause, reconnect and bring a little of nature’s peace into everyday life.
May a little of nature’s quiet find its way to you.
